Tracking distance while on rider mower?

I noticed today that my Fitbit thinks I am walking while I am riding the rider mower doing my large yard. tell me I walked 5 miles total. I am unsure if I can do anything to avoid this from happening again other than taking off the Fitbit. Just wondering if there is any other answer.
