I often wake up groggy. Is there a way to track that in the FitBit app? I see stress tracking, but it's not the same as what I'm looking for. I have a Charge 5.

Hi, @runandweights22 , what exactly about your grogginess/morning wakefulness would you like to track?

You can set up a “custom activity” and that will allow you to track duration, heart rate, heart rate zones, and steps during the time period of that activity.  It will also allow you to see how often you experience this grogginess over a period of time (days/ weeks/ months).  For example, I know people who track their periods of anxiety or panic attacks using the custom activity facility.

Please let us know if you would like instructions on how to set up and track a custom activity.

Yes, that's what I would like to do. Do you mean setting up an "exercise shortcut," or is it some other thing?

Hi, @runandweights22 , you will need to set up a “custom activity”.  The set up can only be done in the web based program, but once set up it will be available to you in the app.  You can access the web based program when you are logged into this Community.  At the top right hand side of each page in the forums you will a link to your “Dashboard”.  Click on that and on the Dashboard page choose Log (top left side of the page). Next go to “Activities” (also from the top menu).

On the Activities page scroll down to the very bottom right hand side and choose “create custom activity”. Give the activity any name you like (for example “Morning grogginess” or just “Grogginess”) and click “Add activity”.

When you feel the grogginess coming on, on your Charge 5 go to the exercise app and begin tracking a “workout”. When you feel the sensations have passed, you can end your “workout”

It will sync to your app as a “workout”, and then all you need to do is click on your workout.  If you are using Android then click on the pencil icon and begin typing the name you chose “Grogginess” or whatever.  It will mmediately show in the box, then click “log it”. On iOS it is similar.  Click on workout and choose “categorise exercise” and begin typing the name in the box.

Note that “workout” is especially designed so that you can categorise it, so that is the shortcut to use.

It sounds a bit complicated when I write out all the steps, but creating the activity only has to be done nice, and categorising it really only takes a few seconds once it has synced to your exercise log.

I hope this is all clear!  Thank you for marking “best answer” as that helps others looking for similar information.
