I ride my eletric bicyle to and from work and I modded the bike to run more like a moped so I don’t have to pedal. So I’m not getting a workout at all; I’m just sitting on the bike while it goes. My fitbit Charge 5 tracks steps and active minutes while I’m on the bike and so my daily activity information comes out inaccurate.
Is there a way of turning the Charge 5 off while riding so it wont track or pick up any of my ebike rides? There’s no way I bought somehting that does’t have an off button/feature.

hey there. None of the trackers have an off switch. I am not sure how it is counting steps as the largest complaint we have is that fitbit doesn't count steps while on a bicycle because the arm is not swinging. I think what may be happening is the road vibration is giving you false steps. I think if you take your fitbit off and put in your bag, you will eliminate the extra steps. You also mention you are just sitting there, so you will still get "alive calories" credit while the fitbit is not on your wrist.

So what do I if, for example, I want to take a break from wearing the Charge 5 for a week while on vacation, I just let the battery die? That doesn't sound like it would be very good for the device...
There has to be a way of properly shutting off the device that doesn't include damaging the battery, and if not, well...that's not good.
