Update problems

I just received my charge 5 but I'm reading about problems with the newest update of the software. Is it safe to set up my new watch or do I need to wait? Is it safe or will my charge 5 just shut down?

As you've stated having gotten your new Charge 5 just now, I'd suggest doing the setup of your device as it should be done, including any updates that will be installed during initial setup.
