Users manual for the charge five tracker

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I recently I received a charge by the tracker. As part of my orientation, I went to the online users manual. As a blank user, I found a number of problems with the manual. First in the table of contents when I found a topic I was interested in I tried clicking on that section, and was unable to go directly to that section. My experience with other users manuals has been that by clicking on a chapter or a section number I was able to go directly to that without having to scroll through the whole manual. Images within the users, manual identified only as image and not with a  written description of the image. I was very frustrated by the fact that some sentences were spelled out letter by letter, and that in order to understand them, I had to remember each letter, until finally a word was recognized in a string of letters with no apparent spaces in between.  this was very frustrating to me as a blind user and I am sure very frustrating to other users with reading disabilities. I am using Apple’s voiceover screen reading software and have dictated this on my iPhone SE third generation 5G and I hope that you will be able to understand my ramblings.  I hope this will be helpful to future authors of users manuals, and that future manuals will be friendly for those who are blind or have reading disabilities.

Hi, it's good to see you visiting the community forums, @Podunk

I appreciate all the feedback that you've shared about the user manual and the text.

This would be very helpful for other users. I can see a few ideas have been shared in the forums to make the device or the information in articles more accessible to everyone, but I didn't see one posted yet with the ideas you mentioned earlier.

I would recommend that you post this idea in the Product Feedback board of the Community, since this section is regularly monitored by the team of developers. Make sure to post your idea including as many details as possible.

In the meantime, you can find a different version of the user manual for Charge 5 with some of the options you described here: Charge 5 User Manual

I believe I posted a featur suggestion on this, and will wait to see. I will continue to advocate for the blind and reading disabled, who use the Fitbit product. I have made many suggestions, including two years ago, that the edit button be made available again to people, using Apple’s voiceover screen reading software. Fitbit customer care along with Google Disability Support have been unable to motivate the software developers to restore the edit button. I am hopeful that the upcoming improvements to the iOS software will improve the experience of people with disabilities and people who are blind and reading disabled. I hope that the information available to cited people and graphs might be made more accessible to the blind. That a mechanism be created to allow people with multiple Fitbits to move between trackers without having to delete and reinstall. That I will leave data in the iOS app be made available along with the sleep score summary that was once available on the home screen and exercise day information that was also once available on the home screen. Thank you to the programmer who restored the heart rate and heart rate zone information to the home screen. Thank you to the customer care and Customer care supervisors who have listened and escalated the issues I have brought forward and I hope that someone has read them, and that they will be addressed in future updates such as step streak length.

@Podunk No problem, and thanks again for sharing all your comments about this.

I'm sure the team of developers will continue to monitor the forums for possible implementations in the future, and your feedback is an important part of that process.
