Why is my Charge 5 dying on runs?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My charge 5 is about 2 years old and routinely dies while running even when charged. Today, it was at 50% before leaving for my run. One mile in and it becomes unresponsive and no longer logs activity. Yet, when I plug it back in afterwards, it reads at ~40% battery.

I have a similar problem with a 2 year old charge 5, yesterday it recorded 37 mins of a bike ride then screen becomes unresponsive despite having plenty of battery charge, did not record map data of ride. I have had this problem several times recently.

I’ve been having this issue, too. My Fitbit seems to die/turn off immediately when I begin exercising and the only way to get it to turn back on is to put it on the charger (with >50% battery). This is ridiculous.

I'm experiencing the same issue. Even when 100% charged before my run, my Charge 5 dies before I even finish a mile. When I plug it back in, it reboots and is still at 90%+ charge.

I’ve had exactly same issue with Charge 5. My Fitbit is exactly 2 years old. This has been happening for ages now. Charge it up to 100%. Put it on wrist and it goes to 86% every time. Within an hour or two the screen is blank when I tap it. Put in on charger it’s 94% then straight back to 86%. Can see on my heart line where it stops working about 4 times a day. Useless gadget. Was fine before the update just prior to the app change (which completely sent it off the rails). I won’t be getting another Fitbit. Couldn’t pay me to bother wearing it. I’m using this one until I get to a metro area in my state in Australia to buy an 🍏

Having the exact same issue. Driving me bonkers, what’s the point of a fitness trackers that turns off during exercise… I’ve updated software and done all the usual, nothing seems to work. It’s fine for yoga and spinning, just turns off on runs??? Weird…

Same here. Two years old. I give up. Do I buy a new Fitbit and just know it will only last 2 years? Or step up and go Apple Watch?

So, if I let it start automatically it seems fine.  So I’m just not starting any activities from the watch. Overall, I’ve been frustrated as a Fitbit owner, so will probably end up with an Apple Watch, but then need to be prepared to charge daily, which also seems annoying… maybe WHOOP 🤔
