One way to fix this problem is to select Driving as an activity and that will allow you to edit your steps. One way to make this a bit easier to control (I think) is to make a generic 'Workout' shortcut on your Charge 5. From the Today screen, tap your profile picture then Charge 5, then Exercise Shortcuts. Choose one you don't use and swipe left to delete it. Then choose 'Workout' from + Exercise Shortcuts. Sync your Fitbit and it should turn up.
Then when you're about to get in a car, press Start for Workout and Finish at the end.
Later when you go into the App on your phone, tap on that 'Workout', then the arrow at the top right by Categorize Exercise. Then start typing Driving into the search box, select. If you want to change some things, you can tap on the 3 dots at the top right of the Exercise screen to edit.
It sounds long and complicated, sorry. I think it should work though.
