new charge 5 will not sync

I got a charge 5 to replace a charge 2 and the new one will not sync to the computer.I had very little problem with the charge 2. I tried deleting the app and I was informed the app is discontinued and will not work at all. The phone app wants to know your location all the time and will use my data. I do not need an unlimited plan. Does anybody have any Ideas? At this point, I have a very high-priced step counter and now my old charge 2 will not work.

Syncing via computer was recently discontinued, and is no longer supported. You do not have to enable continuous updates, which would use data (probably not a lot, I should look at that). I assume you have wifi at home. If so, you can keep automatic/background updates turned off, and manually sync your tracker to the app when you're at home. One easy way to do this would e to keep bluetooth turned off until you are home, or on wifi.

Unfortunately, the apps requiring location data is becoming more prevalent. That said, I keep my GPS location services off 90+% of the time, and have no issues. I allow Fitbit to get my location only when I am using the app.

Thanks for the answer. I guess I was just used to the charge 2 as I could see from my desk and it just worked without any intervention.
