run when i selected walk

Hi,have a newly aquired charge 5 ( wish i hadn't ) Could anyone tell me why when I select the walk option it saves the walk as run and walk with a slight difference in mileage( the run being more accurate)and times.  Also why there is a slight difference in data betwweeen app and the watch?.
