Accuracy issues with the app recording steps

Something is going on recently with Fitbit’s data. Many times I see today’s steps exactly equal to yesterday’s steps even though I just woke up and haven’t taken any steps. Closing the app and reopening it usually fixes it, but this didn’t used to happen and it’s disturbing because accurately keeping track of your exercise is the whole purpose of the tracker.

In addition to that regular occurrence, I recently saw a jump in my steps for the previous day which I’m sure was 16,500, but then added an extra ~6k more the following day. It recorded 16,500 the day before, but jumped to 22,391 the next day. There’s no way those extra steps happened, and if I add up the histogram entries, it matches the 16,500 that it had the day before. I don’t get it. The displayed steps doesn’t match the graph! How is that possible? Do they not use the same data?

Similar issue with distance.  Yesterday I walked “13,507.64 of 3.11 miles” (?????)
