Algorithm change?

Has Google changed the Fitbit algorithm recently? Mostly surrounding HR. I’ve been wearing the same tracker for years, but suddenly out of nowhere with the same habits, my RHR dropped, my cardio fitness went up, and I’m getting more zone minutes than I’ve ever gotten doing the same activities. For example, I do Pilates 6 times a week for years. In the last week, it’s showing I’m getting 20+ zone minutes from my workout and I’ve never gotten more than 1 minute maybe for a Pilates class- over 200 of them. What gives?

Hello @kiponvi1

Which Fitbit device do you have? You mention that you've been using the same tracker for years. However, you posted in the Charge 6 product help forum. The Charge 6 was released in October 2023.

We can move your post to the appropriate Fitbit product help forum where you're more likely to get a response from users who have the same device as you.

I think I may have a similar problem.

I am using a Charge 6 and since the end of August/ beginning of September I am noticing that I can get zone minutes for doing hardly any exercise.

I have also, for the last few months, been doing exactly the same hike once a week: same distance, at the same speed.

My zone minutes for that hike have stayed more or less the same. But I am getting more peak and fewer vigourous or moderate, giving me the same zone minutes total.

I think this started after an update to the Charge 6 firmware? But I can't remember exactly when I did the update.

My uneducated guess is that the algorithm is now giving me zone minutes for shorter periods in peak compared to before the change. Or it is just registering peak minutes more accurately.

Is that possible?

I have checked the accuracy of heart rate against an exercise bike's measurement device. It's within a point or two.

I have restarted, and reset, the Charge 6.

I don't feel any different, by the way.
