Can I avoid counting walks as exercise days?

ANSWERED

I have a goal of 3 exercise days per week. To me that means going to the gym. I walk a lot but that’s just normal life. I have “Auto Detect” disabled under Walk on my Charge 6, and yet days on which I walk extra, the app counts this as an exercise day. The app shows my auto-detected walks, as if the Auto-Detect setting were enabled. Am I missing some other setting that will allow me to only count explicit workouts under Exercise Days?

See for example this screenshot. Today I explicitly began a workout, but yesterday I just walked a bit. I don’t want yesterday to be an exercise day, and again I’m not sure why it’s even auto-detecting walks at all. Did I miss something?IMG_7317.jpeg

Hi, @thejoelpatrol , turning off auto recognize ought to work, but if for some reason it isn’t, have you tried setting it to the maximum number of minutes - i.e. telling it to ignore walks unless they are 90 minutes or longer (90 is the biggest number you can put it).  On the app click on “Settings” then “Activity and Wellness” then “Exercise”.  Click on “Walk” and set it to auto recognize walks longer than 90 minutes and see if that works for you.

@thejoelpatrol you probably need to switch it off in the app (follow the steps given by @Julia_G ). At some point, Fitbit duplicated auto-detect functionality in the app and the watch. I encountered the same problem long ago after switching to one of the more "modern" Fitbits (I don't track walks either).

Thank you @Julia_G and @Triletics! That was it, I had to disable Auto Detect for walks both in the app *and* on the device. I knew I had to be missing something.
