I can no longer see a summary of my steps over each of the above periods in the FitBit app - this used to show there but recently seems to have stopped.
any suggestions?

I appreciate your message, and I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing this situation. Could you please confirm if you are only seeing a grayed area instead of the summary of your steps?
If so, our team is aware of this issue and working on a fix.
I understand your feelings about this situation, and this is definitely not the experience we want for our customers.
This one time exception workaround worked for some customers: you may need to try uninstalling and reinstalling the application to see the desired results. It's worth a try.
There should be no loss of information as long as you sync your device beforehand.
