Charge 6 Battery draining

My charge 6 keeps going from over 90% battery straight to critical battery level - the same on the watch and the app.

When i connect the charger and restart, both the watch & the app return to over 90%. This keeps happening every few hours.

I guess the charge 6 is wearing out but I am waiting for the charge 7 to be released next year.

Is there any way to fix this?

Thank you..

Hello @PabloPP!  Welcome to the forums!

Thank you for letting us know that your Charge 6 is running out of power faster than expected.

  • Have you recently increased your use of apps that require GPS?
  • Do you frequently use FitbitPay or music control?
  • How long do you charge your Fitbit?
  • How do you charge your monitor regularly? Do you connect it to a computer or use a wall connection?
  • Is your phone OS up to date?

I suggest you perform a restart and charge your Charge 6 plugged into a PC and use the tracker as usual to verify the charge.

Thanks for your reply.

No I have not increased my use of apps that require GPS. I don't use it for
music or payments.

I usually charge it about 3 times a week for about 20 minutes - to a wall
connection.

Today it is charging on my laptop as it keeps running out of battery. It
has gone from 94% to 62% in just a couple of hours. I have tried
restarting it several times but it is not making a difference.

Hello @PabloPP

When my Charge 5 started having rapid battery loss, I restarted and recharged my device multiple times over several days. As soon as I saw a rapid drop in battery, I restarted my Charge 5 and put it on the charger until it was back to 100%, often doing this multiple times in a day. Eventually, this process got my device "unstuck" and the battery went back to lasting 6-7 days. Although there's no guarantee that this will work for your Charge 6, it might be worth a try.

Thank you for your reply Marathon Racer,

I have tried restarting and charging several times and it does seem to be a
bit better. I am hoping that it will gradually sort itself out.

I love my fitbit and would happily buy another one as I've had this one a
few years now, but I don't want another Charge 6 when there might be a
Charge 7 soon, but who knows?!

Hello @PabloPP

Thanks for letting us know that you're seeing a little improvement in your battery life.

There's an unorthodox method that might help. A user exposed their Charge 5 to freezer temps. This process helped reset & restore their device. This thread (<-- click) explains what the user tried. It's worked for some, but not all users. Although there's no guarantee that this will work for your current issue, it might be worth a try.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I had seen some improvement, but overnight the battery has gone to 0% and
the fitbit switched off entirely. When I have connected it to the charger
this morning it showed 38%! It's very frustrating. I am going to try the
freezer later today. Come on the Charge 7, we need you!
