Charge 6 - Can't Update

My new Charge6 says it needs to update.  I follow the directions but then get message that it can't update-either try again or try later.  It fails every time i try.  Phone and fitbit are connected, fitbit is charged,  Bluetooth is on, permissions are all ok. What to try next?

@SAnder59 , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your message and efforts.

Do you get the message when connected to the WIFI or also when connected to mobile data?

Have you tried the steps and tips described here: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

*I think I've tried everything in that post. I've restarted my device,
I've removed and reconnected my device, I've turned on and off bluetooth,
I've tried this over WIFI and only using mobile data both via bluetooth
connection. *

*When I reconnected my device, the fitbit app on my phone kept trying to
connect while my fitbit itself gave me the message that I was now
connected. The fitbit app on my phone just kept on spinning. I finally
closed it and the app asked if I wanted to leave the connection process
(even though it was already connected to my fitbit). My fitbit is
collecting data and I can see it on my phone app. But when I swipe down to
to sync my data it does look like it syncs but the little wheel just keeps
on spinning and spinning never completing the sync (tho I think it has
completed it).*

*This is a brand new fitbit (my old charge 6 seemed to have stopped
working, just got the big red X and it would not charge or update no matter
how many things I tried from the list posted online). It may all stem from
my inability to update. It's very frustrating and I don't know what else
to try at this point.*

@SAnder59 ,Thank you for your reply and further information.

Please sync your Charge 6 to avoid losing recorded data. Make sure no other Bluetooth device is connected to your phone or nearby.

  • Please log out of the Fitbit app on your phone.
  • Then go to Settings > Bluetooth and remove all connections to the tracker. (Forget device, ignore, or unpair depending on the phone's operating system version).
  • Then go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app and clear the cache.
  • Then restart your phone (turn it off/on).
  • Restart your Charge 6.
  • When your phone is back on, turn Bluetooth back on, but DO NOT attempt to connect to the tracker from there.

Go to the app. From there, try setting up the tracker as a new device.

Once the Charge 6 is paired to the account again, use it normally until the update banner appears again.
