Charge 6: How do I turn off workout tools?

I'm 68, I hike 6-8 miles a day, I no longer care about beating my best time (because I can't anymore). I want only to track calories burned during the day and track my heart rate. BUT, ever time I start hiking, the Charge 6 face has a start/stop/type of workout options instead of the clockface. How do I get rid of annoying arrows and options I don't need?

TIA, Seeley

There is a "Walk Detect" setting that is on, apparently by default, that you want to turn off.  What it does is, after a few minutes of walking, it detects that and acts as if you you have just used the Exercise App to start a Walking workout.  To turn this setting off, you have to go to the Exercise App on the Charge 6, select Walk as the exercise type, but before starting the workout, swipe up from the little arrow at the bottom of the screen to see several different options that can apply to the walking workout.  One of them should be "Walk Detect".  Turn that off.  Once you do that, I don't think you should encounter that problem again.  I hope.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
