I've had to tie a rubber band around them to keep them connected to charge

I'm glad to help you with the issue you ar experiencing while trying to charge your Charge 6.

When you hold the charging cable near the port on the back of the tracker, it should attach magnetically. Do you feel the magnetism?

Make sure the pins on the charging cable align with the port on the back of your Charge 6 to achieve this. The percent charged should appear on the screen.
