Charge 6 black screen

Bought charge 6 just over a month ago.  Suddenly black screen with 60+% charge left.  Tried to reboot a few time and nothing happened.   
Contacted support, the only advice is to clean the back and the pins.  Both are shiny and clean.

I just had my 3rd charge 6 in exactly 1 year go black on me.  today was the final day on Fitbit warrenty so it is being covered.
I had 2 charge 5 do this also.  Since google took over my fitbits last 3-5 months then die on me.

This last time I went ahead and purchsed 3 year warrenty through walmart for $20.  So i will be covered with 0 deductable for 2 more years.

I am not sure i will buy another fitbit since it is so frustrating to have them die so fast.

My Charge 6 went black then a x with a red circle  in the display.  After tech support went though the list of things to do,  a new one is on the way.  I think the firmware update failed at some point an bricked my unit...

People seem to try a lot of things and none of them worked for me until I let the unit restart by discharging the battery.

My unit stopped reporting to the app, failed to sync and won't reset.  Still has a x with a red circle in the middle of the display. Can't tell what the battery level is currently,  as it is unresponsive. It's been setting for a few days but was on the charger for a while during troubleshooting.
