Charge 6 doesn't keep a constant GPS connection

So i recently got the Fitbit charge 6 after having a versa 3. And i like it other than the fact the gps is probably the worst gps device ive ever had. I tested it in “built in” mode for gps and couldn’t even keep a constant connection in open space walking in a straight line. So going to change it back to “dynamic” to get gps support from my phone. I have an iPhone and always used to keep Fitbit app running idle and never used to force close it. However, since the Fitbit app overhall in late 2023, the app was draining my phone due to hours of background activity that i have no clue what it was doing. Anyway since then i always force close the Fitbit app. My question is, does the Fitbit app need to be not forced closed in order to use the gps for my Fitbit?

Not sure about iOS but on Android app must be running in the background and power saving mode must be off. On my Samsung Galaxy S22+ it drains battery quickly when I used tethered GPS. The built-in GPS isn't working at all. Exactly as in your case, I haven't had it working even once for the entire run. It's either it connects and disconnect a few minutes later (and never reconnects again) or doesn't connect at all (which is majority of cases). Anyway, you need working GPS, Charge 6 is probably lowest shelf device for it.
