Did you mean:

fitbit counting steps despite me cycling?

do you guys think Fitbit should be counting me cycling as “steps?” Cause I mean technically I am “stepping” but idk I find it weird that it just adds my cycles to my overall step count. kinda throws me off a bit

(Also this isn’t related to or because of the update lol. Thought I’d add that so to clarify im not piling onto the update hate cause that’s already immense haha)

Hi @awadhm1.

This is by design and something Fitbit's have done for as long as I can remember. For whatever reason Fitbit has taken the decision to not discard steps whilst in a cycling activity.

I seem to remember some time ago there was a debate about this, with some users not wanting steps to be counted, but others did want them to be counted. I think this was more of an issue when step challenges were a thing and the cyclists believing that they would be penalised because they were cycling.

I share similar views as yourself, and also know that some of the competitors discard steps for non step based activities.

I think Fitbit team could solve it easily with adding checkbox "count step while cycling" to the settings. But I doubt it will be added anytime soon (if ever).
