Did you mean:

Charge 6 floor count

ANSWERED

I feel cheated as my new Fitbit charge 6 does not read the number of floors climbed whereas my old charge 2 worked perfectly. Why was this facility taken away I am extremely disappointed as this was partly the reason for updating to a newer model.

Looking at the specs for the Charge 6, there is and never was mention of floor counting. Is it ok to blame Fitbit for the buyers failure to do a little research?

Doing a little research would possibly help from future disappointment

In 2013, knowing only one person with a fitbit, before I put $80 down on my first fitbit, I spent several weeks researching

Because my Charge 6 doesn't have stair count, I can't even see the stairs that where counted last week with the Pixel 2 watch

I felt I had done my research when I got my first fitbit Charge in 2017.
I'm not sure at that point I was particularly bothered about floor count
but having had it as a feature and found it interesting I would have liked
to still have it on my new fitbit. I didn't expect 7 years later to find
the fitbit had gone backwards!

Having decided to go with fitbit, all your history and data is then on an
app which can be downloaded via Google but I couldnt find a way to transfer
it to another brand so I felt bound to staying loyal to the fitbit even tho
I don't think they last as long as they should for the price.

So, even if I had realised it was missing this spec I might still, on
balance, have gone with the charge 6 but that wouldn't have meant I wasn't
disappointed that it no longer had the features I was used to.

I don't think it's fair to increase the price (currently abt £120 in the
UK) but reduce the specs of a newer and supposedly better and brighter
model in this age of technological advancement. However, now I know that
this can happen, I will definitely be more diligent in my research when I
need a new smart watch especially if this one only lasts a couple of years
again!

There isn't any Fitbit.org to be part off. However there was plenty of talk in reviews and around the internet, before the release of the Charge 6, that like the Charge 5, there will not be stair count, it seems that with the smaller profile of the Charge Series Google has decided to use the real estate for different Hardware. Since the Charge 5 lacked floor counting, it really should not be a surprise with the Charge 6

No one even knowz if there will be a Charge 7, as for my relationship with google, there is a clickible link in my post.

"this device does not include the option to track floors"

.....thanks, I hate it.

Doesn't track floors, dim setting is NOT dim, can't get rid of wallet that's always somehow prompted without being touched, the app keeps erasing big chunks of data and in the short time I've had it I've had to reinstall/restart everything almost a dozen times.... 😠

Can we please bring back the Charge 4? It's been downhill since.... 😩

i guess you are saying buyer beware, very dissappointing as floors is also what I wanted and I assumed it was same as my previous charge 6 but better.

Not sure if they were able to rectify this. I need to take it in somewhere and see if they can look at it. Not sure where to take it.

There’s no way to fix what isn’t there. The Charge 6 doesn’t have an onboard altimeter like earlier models did. If you want to have floors climbed counted, you’re stuck with finding a different tracker. My Charge 2 still works (for that purpose at least) so I just wear them both when I’m doing my daily stair climbing.

I also feel cheated. I just bought a charge six because my charge three absolutely died. It’s my second charge three that has died by having the display no longer visible.

I bought the Charge! version of the Fitbit because I liked it and wanted all the same features. I am seriously annoyed that it will no longer register floors

Hello @Thegoodbrother1

Sorry to let you know that there aren't any Fitbit service centers.

As mentioned throughout this thread, the Charge 6 doesn't have the altimeter needed to track stairs/floors.

If you're having a different issue with your Fitbit, please let us know.

I am not inly disappointed but also angry, this is a devious cheap decision to market a product (Fitbit charge) as a Fitbit charge 6, but to not clearly state (I mean in your face, not a footnote or small print) that specific Fitbit charge features were conveniently left out to reduce cost for marketing reasons (stay in same cost as competitors) this is a low trick, to reduce features and quality but to still piggy bag on the reputation and good feedback from previous charge models, and if the well known aspect that typically a newer version of a model makes improvements and upgrades not take away features that loyal users of Fitbit charge have come to know.
what if a newer upgrade of a same model of car suddenly dies not have Bluetooth connection anymore since they wanted to cut costs, they just did not happen to mention it when buying, (and you did not even think of asking since the previous model had it)

Totally unacceptable, I would not be surprised new management  was behind it when they bought Fitbit, I will be returning my Christmas gift, that I put on my wish list since I loved my charge 2)

The altimeter (a piece of hardware required to support the stair counting feature) was reportedly removed from the Charge 5 to support ECG and EDF functionality way back in 2021, so why is it a surprise that the Charge 6 still doesn't have an altimeter or support for stair climbing in 2024?

Will be returning my Charge 6 and go back to my Charge 4. So sad you replaced features we have all used and relied on instead of just adding the new features along with what’s already in place.

I just don’t understand how this is a suitable response. Taking features away. I used my charge 3 until it was dead, dead. Screen died years ago. So frustrating Fitbit doesn’t listen to customers. Google was not for the better.

if other platforms could ingest your data I would leave in a heart beat. But alas, you have 8 years of my health data. I feel committed.

Release me!

This is disappointing. The why can't I change the floors goal to 0? How do I remove floors from the goals list?

They just wanted us to move to the watches, except I prefer my step counter where it belongs, on my hip.

Hello @sierra55

I don't do Stairs due to the arthritis in my knees. So far, I haven't found a way to set 0 as the Floor goal or to remove it. What I've done for now was set the goal to 1 and turn off Floor under the Activity section in the Fitbit app so that it doesn't show in the app.

I really miss the floor option. Sure it wasn't mentioned but since we were forced to upgrade due to older models no longer working properly (dead screen or no battery) one kinda thought it would be "same as always". The Charge 6 also do NOT find climbs when hiking. All the older models could tell if I had walked a steep hill during hiking and how far above sea level.

The Charge 6 will for sure be my last. I hate it. I had the Charge 2, Charge 3, Charge 4 prior to this one. Two Charge 4 tbh, one exploded (when charging).

The Charge 6 is filled with completely useless things that I do not need when tracking my heartrate/pulse, activity, period, steps and sleep. I use my watch 24/7 - as a watch, health- and exercise tool. The Spotify, Google wallet, Find my phone - I have NO use of. On top of that the useless order of my exercises. I want MY exercises ONLY - in my order. The zone activity completely sucks too, but it is not only the Charge 6.

Except the useless battery life the Charge 3 was my fav even though the GPS is better now.

And yeah, many of us want the stairs back.
