Hello
I just got my fitbit charge 6 yesterday. A bit excited but now i wonded if there might be something off with the step counter.
So far i have counted steps through an app on my phone. Today, as an old habit, i have had the phone on me at all times. I havent been out on any long walks. My phone shows almost 4k steps, which seems somewhat accurate. My fitbit watch shows almost 8k steps, which seems waaay inaccurate. Is there any calibration that needs to be done? Ive entered my height, weight and non-dominant wrist. How come it counts this many steps? Was expecting better from such an expensive watch.
Would really like some help from official support on this. Ive read that it seems to be quite a lot of users experiencing the same issue.

Hello & welcome @Samira85
By any chance, did you set up your phone as a connected device in the Fitbit app? You can check by tapping on the device icon/battery percentage in the upper right of the Today page in the Fitbit app. In the page that opens, you should see Charge 6 under Devices. If you see Phone under Devices, that means you've connected your phone to the Fitbit app.
Having your phone as a connected device is a feature that lets you track your steps & workouts when you aren't wearing your Fitbit. I've seen users report that they get double the number of steps because both their Fitbit & phone are counting steps.
If this is what you're seeing, you can tap on Phone and follow the the prompts to disconnect it. This won't impact how your Charge 6 syncs data to the Fitbit app on your phone.
Please let us know if this helped.

I completely agree. My charge 6 logged 1,600 steps on a day I was working from home. That’s impossible. it also logs steps when it knows I’m sleeping. It logged 85 steps before I got up. I tried to delete the steps to start the day at zero and it said give us two months to delete your data. I’m highly disappointed. There are other posts complaining about the same thing. Someone reported they were just scratching their leg and they saw 20 steps added. So it’s just a fancy watch with good heart rate and sleep metrics.
