Try cleaning the contacts, make sure that you have a good connection, and try a different wall brick, and if you have one, a second cable.

Not sure if this is helpful, but is your device damaged? Check to see if the gold dots on the back are damaged in any way. If it's damaged enough it will not charge regardless of the charger, where it's plugged in, or how clean it is. If it is damaged you'll need to replace it to my knowledge.
