Charge 6 keeps saying Download Fitbit app

I'm trying to start my new fitbit charge 6. I downloaded the app. The Fitbit is linked to the app. The Fitbit keeps saying: download the Fitbit mobile app.

I had to delete the one I had on it and tried to add the new one. I’m gonna
try to remember what someone else told me on the app. When you plug it in
to your cord not the part that goes on the watch. The other big side There
is a black circle on the back . I had to push on that. I can’t remember
the who had it on the site but I googled it and it was the favorite one
that came up so I used that one. It worked after that like it was supposed
to.

Hi I tried everything for a couple of months deleting the app reloading several times really got fed up of constant messages in the end I just deleted messages when the come up finally it did an update by itself and from then no problems. I think part of it was the app was the charge 2 which had stairs/floors but the charge 6 actually doesn’t have it so that’s why it kept saying unable to load some items failed to load etc.
Be patient with it as much as you can.

In the past, the app only displayed the stats your current tracker can track, and would adjust the home screen during the setup of the device. This sounded like an app, not a hardware issue

The best answer to this is actually what others said: if you already have the Fitbit app on your phone from a previous device, eliminate it, download and install it again, and then you can install/pair the new fitbit device.

If someone still has this problem in 2026 i’m gonna tell you what fixed this for me - after hours of cursing… I was helping my mom setting this watch up (cause i’m apparently the tech guy) And this problem was a mess, i tried all of the things people on here wrote, but it didn’t help.

My mom has a iphone 12 pro and when setting the watch up on the app the downloading part wasn’t showing up and it went straight back to telling me to download the app… So i tried setting the watch up on my iphone 15 pro and then the update came, and i updated it on my phone. Afterwards i disconnected the watch on the app and in bluetooth from my phone, and set the watch up just like the manual on hers and voila - it worked!

Fix: Try to set the watch up on another (newer) phone. For info, i didn’t log into her account on the app on my phone, but made a new account - don’t know if it’s a must or you can just log into the preferred account on a new device - hope it helps!

I got a new charger 6 with my iPhone 12 Pro and it would not work, google support line told me to send it back. Got new one, same story. Very disappointing, I will try to find someone with a new phone but it is just ridiculous. Or maybe I’ll just go for garmin
