Charge 6 not syncing with Phone

I'm using a Charge 6 with a Pixel 6 Pro and have been using Fitbits from the very beginning, the short version is suddenly 2 days ago my phone is no longer syncing on the Fitbit app, my Charge is syncing but not my phone, nothing has been changed, added or removed either physically or via software, what's going on and what exactly isn't happening when my phone isn't syncing?

Same issue, mine has also stopped giving me vibration notifications, and won’t sync to phone (iPhone 13)

Hello @Henotashe

If I understand your post correctly, you have your phone as a connected device in the Fitbit app, correct? So when you tap on the device icon in the upper left of the Today page, you see both your Charge 6 and your phone as connected devices.

If this is the case, you've enabled a feature that lets you use your phone to track steps and exercise when you're not wearing your Charge 6. If you don't need this option, you can disconnect your phone from the Fitbit app by tapping on the phone tile and selecting Disconnect device.

Removing your phone as a connected device won't change how your Charge 6 syncs with the app.

@RiekoC Thank you for your reply, I have already tried the steps in the “why won’t my Fitbit sync” article. It last synced at 5:30am, it’s now nearly 9:30pm and still won’t sync, is there anything else I can try? Or is it likely to resolve itself? Thanks again.

My Charge 6 doesn't sync with my Android phone either.  Did this last month and I had to install an old app version to get it to work. Then eventually could go to latest app and it worked but now back faulty.  Whilst it says it synced yesterday I did 20000 steps and app only says a few of those and nothing for Monday at all.

A few steps that have been reported to work, and not mentioned in the help docs.

  • Clear the Fitbit App's Cache
  • Delete the Fitbit App's Data (Android Only)
  • Remove the tracker from the phones BT, ( will require setting up notifications)

Removing from BT fixed my last sync issue, but the tracker didn't show up in BT until I setup notifications.

That seems to have worked Thanks.

It is frustrating that the fitbit sometimes stops syncing without change
from myself.

So I have had my charge 6 less than one week and yesterday morning the screen on the fitbit stopped responding. Nothing will illuminate the screen including trying to charge the device, which it doesn't appear to be doing, and the fitbit no longer syncs with my android device. My first thought was to reboot the device using the charging cable but the device doesn't do anything when attached to the charging cable, it doesn't buzz, illuminate, appear to charge, or reboot using the instructions for doing so with the charging cable.

I have tried all the help steps provided (uninstall, reinstall, delete cache & data, delete device, reboot phone, etc) and as the fitbit both won't connect by Bluetooth to my phone, nor be able to display the pin # for pairing I really don't know what to do at this point as it just appears dead.  I just find it odd that the issue started yesterday (around the same time as others) and less than a week after purchasing brand new.

I finally fixed mine, again, I'd obviously done it already, but I deleted it from my device list, reset my Fitbit Charge on the device and this time also reinstalled the app and restarted my phone, this time it WAS properly detected and readded, everything has now gone back to normal and I didn't lose any data, both the App and device synced again and it is like it was, phew! I still don't know why it happened as I didn't consciously change anything, but this was the fix in my case, basically a complete reset and reinstall:)

Thanks for everyone's help and advice, I finally sorted it out, I'm not sure what happened but a complete reinstall/reset of both Fitbit software and hardware fixed it, in the end no data was lost which is pretty impressive really, these things have come a looooooong way!

Hello @MaliceK

It sounds like you have a defective device.

Since your Charge 6 isn't a week old, you should be in the window to exchange it for a new one.

Thank you for following this issue it was really annoying as I know I didn't change anything, but obviously something had changed as bits of hardware only so what they are told too, so assuming said hardware didn't fail it was a temporary software issue that was resolved once all the software was uninstalled and then reinstalled, basically I think my hardware (my Fitbit) was temporarily failing to work 100% because the software that controls it was messed up, probably a file became corrupted because it didn't close properly, or an update didn't load properly etc, basically I don't think it's my Fitbit that was broken, rather the software which has been fixed now by backing everything up via fitbit software (it should be already by default) completely removing it  from my device, resetting my device (Fitbit charge 6) reinstalling the app then resyncing everything and it's all working again as it should:) if you are having the same problem give it a try, you're right though, on the surface it looked like my charge was faulty but after a lottttt of messing around I'm pretty confident my problem has been resolved now, HOORAY! 🙂

Am hoping someone can help. I've read thru all the steps here & completed majority twice or more & its doing my head in why my fitbit wont connect. Its just a week old (first  recharge since bought.)

Had to get a new phone, also had to switch over to sign in via google & not in via fitbit account to register the charge 6 device on new ph.

Fitbit will not connect. I've restarted fitbit i don't know how many times - uninstalled/reinstalled fitbit app from ph so many times.

Uninstalled/disconnected fitbit & app from old ph. Disconnected all old fitbits. Restarted fitbit, Restarted ph.

Help - its never been this difficult to connect before.

Keeps saying cant find the device - feck me device is under 2wks old - ph less than 3days old!! I hate putting the fitbit on charge when it doesn't need to be, its only new!!!

Here's something I've done before that's helped when nothing else has, do you happen to have an older working Fitbit? If you do try adding it instead then try readding your new device, that's helped me out a few times before I hope it helps 🙂

Thank you. I found/charged my charge 4. Tried to connect that - I'd uninstalled/reinstalled fitbit app on ph/restart ph - get the pincode & charge 4 kept saying download fitbit app sigh.

Uninstall/reinstall app, restart ph, restart fitbit. Decide to try again with new ph - yes 💪

Only problem now is all my old data hasn't come across 😒  new ph wouldn't let me sync with fitbit unless I switched over to sign in via google.

Thank you 😊
