I am looking to update to a charge 6. My friend has one and she says unless her arm is swinging it does not log steps. (i.e. treadmill) Or if she is walking with her hands in her pocket.
My charge 4 has no issue. As long as my hip is moving it logs steps.
So I just want to know if anyone else has this issue or if it is just her watch.
Thanks

Wrist worn health trackers use arm movement for step tracking. Both the Charge 4 & 6 have accelerometers for step tracking. This help page (<-- click) has more information.
Just to let you know, the Charge 6 doesn't have an altimeter for floor tracking. So, if that's something that you want to continue to track, you will need to look at a different Fitbit device.

Best AnswerMy charge 4 does not matter if my arm is swinging. My friend's charge 6 her arm must swing.
So I take from your answer that if I upgrade to the charge 6, my arm must be swinging in order to track steps? Guess I better hope that my charge 4 doesn't break down.
