I had a notification that there was a firmware update available for my Charge 6. I dutifully applied the update successfully and it is now running 66.20001.214.24. Since that update however, the device will no longer sync.
I’ve tried: 1. Restarting the app, 2. Clearing app cache, 3. Restarting the Charge 6 (multiple times), 4. Restarting the phone (multiple times), 5.Uninstalling/reinstalling the app - all without any success in syncing.
So what did this firmware update do to my device and is there any recovery?

I also got the prompt to upgrade to a more secure BT connection following the upgrade and while it also failed the first time, it appeared when I retried to do it, that it worked. After all my attempts to get things working, I set the phone down for a while in frustration for a couple hours. I just looked again now and I do see that it did sync somehow. It appears that it’s all working again but I have no idea how. Manual syncs are working as well. Very strange! Glad it wasn’t bricked.

I'm having the same issue... noticed it wasn't updating the hour. So, I tried manually syncing and it won't do it. I think the auto syncs are working because it says it synced an hour ago and I've been getting my daily logs updated. Same firmware as OP. I've followed the same steps to fix and it is still an issue. In the app it shows my device and I can see it in BT settings. App says I can "upgrade to a more secure Bluetooth connection". I tell it to do it and it fails.
I'm going to try a factory reset on the watch and update...

I have tgeane issue, obviously there's definitely a problem with that update. The app shows more steps then the watch does. And the watch keeps stopping to record the steps I have to keep tapping the screen to get it to start again and it obviously misses a lot of them because I don't think of doing that, because it's supposed to start recording the steps as soon as you start walking but it does not. And I see that I'm not the only one with this issue and I haven't seen any answers to the problem as yet.

It appears that the problem must have resolved itself overnight because this morning both the app and the watch are in complete synch, so far anyway. Keeping fingers crossed that it stays that way
