For some reason, the total distance my Fitbit app shows for the day is not the same as the sum of the hourly distances. The hourly distances that are greater than 0 are as follows (in miles):
.11, .01, .07, .02, .01, .28, .43, .53, .36, .05, .07, .63, .60, .07, .77, .06
The sum of those is 4.07 miles. However, my total distance for the day is reported as 6.60 miles. That makes no sense. Why would the total distance reported be different than the sum of the hourly distances?

@4sim84k5 It's not limited to tracked distances. It's all the distance you moved that day and there might be rounding.

Can you please explain how this anomaly occurs. When the hourly sum states zero surely that means zero otherwise a figure or total distance would be shown. I can’t understand why how there can be up to 3 or 4 km difference. Does this mean that any movement i.e walking from the living room to kitchen on several occasions is monitored as zero but then calculated in the overall distance?

Yes is does. When I add up the total distance of the hourly steps it is less than the distance stated on the Fitbit App for the day.
