EDA Scans on Fitbit - How Do You Interpret Them? (Charge 6)

Hi everyone, I've been using a Fitbit Charge 6, my first fitness tracker ever, for almost a month and am intrigued by the EDA scan feature. However, I'm finding it a bit challenging to interpret the results.

Can anyone with experience or knowledge in this area share how you understand and utilize these EDA scan data?

Any insights or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, I read all of Fitbit's resources, Googled it, asked Bing, asked Bing Chat, asked ChatGPT, and asked Bard, which, like Fitbit, is owned by Google. I still don't understand EDA on the Charge 6.

Hello & welcome @e1llab

With all the research you've done so far, I'm sure you've read that your Charge 6 is determining your EDA score by detecting tiny changes in the sweat level on your skin (which changes your skin conductance). Because your sweat level is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system, these changes can indicate meaningful trends about your body’s response to stress. Your Charge 6 detects EDA responses on your fingertips because there's a high density of sweat glands located there versus in other parts of the body. (from How do I track and manage stress with my Fitbit device)

The EDA score goes from 0 to 100. The lower the score, the less stressed you are. If you get a "high" score (probably over 50, the mid point), that indicates your body is showing signs of stress or excitement. That's the time to stop and take deep breaths and/or do a meditation/calm session to help reduce the stress response.
