Fitbit Charge 6 watch overrides exercise started in app.

ANSWERED

When I go for a run, I start my exercise on my phone via Fitbit app and GPS. I don’t use GPS on my watch as it drastically helps with battery life. Every time I run, it still after 10 - 15 minutes starts to auto track my exercise on my watch. I turned off ALL auto tracking in the app, turned off AZM notifications on the actual watch.  When my run is done, my phone app will show my GPS route, and total accurate distance. For example my run was 3.5 miles. Then I close my phone, go back to my app, and it only shows the run once it started being tracked on my watch, without the GPS tracking; and only at like 2.4 miles. My actual run was removed and overtaken by the lower watch run amount and the other tracked mapped out GPS run is completely gone out of the app! How do I fix that ??

I FINALLY figured it out! On the actual Fitbit watch itself, you have to turn off auto tracking in the actual exercise. Go to run and or walk (or any exercise type) and click it like you’re starting the exercise. Do not hit start yet, but scroll down and there’s an option right there to turn off auto tracking! Once you click that, it will no longer auto track on the watch.

@Heidisnutrition   @jrlrunner   This feature is in six exercise shortcuts: walk, run, bike, elliptical, rowing, and spinning.  Many people are bothered by the walk shortcut, too.  It bothers them with "daily activity" walking.  Many swimmers like to swim without the Exercise app, but it will trigger rowing.

I recommend taking a few minutes to adjust the settings in any or all of the shortcuts.  Look for Auto-Start as you scroll and toggle it off.  This feature is on my Sense 2 and I toggled them all off.
