Fitbit Sleep Not Logging Completely

I’m so disappointed in my FitBit Charge 6. I have had an Inspire 3 for two years. Them within the past 4 weeks sleep data started getting wonky. I tried everything to fix it and then ordered the Charge 6. After updating to 4.60, it started doing the same thing.

Both units used to display a graph of a full night’s sleep cycles. Now it will only display a graph for part of the night. The rest is display under “Other Sleep”. This is beyond annoying, as I primarily got these units to log sleep. Now it appears that for both the Charge 6 and the older Inspire 3, the sleep monitoring function has been compromised by the latest OS update. Anyone else? What’s the fix? Can the update be rolled back?

Hello @Treynolds57

Sorry to see that you're having issues with sleep tracking. My apologies if you have already reviewed the information on this help page (<-- click).

Every now & then, my sleep tracking isn't correct in the app. When this happens, I edit my sleep log in the app. Do you edit your sleep logs in the app?

Even when I try to edit a sleep log, it doesn't affect the total really. Fitbit (ie GOOGLE!!!) needs to admit changing the algorithm for sleep was a mistake and ROLL IT BACK to the way it was before June, 2025. I may end up sending my Charge 6 back, as it gets me little over my Inspire 3, especially if the sleep tracking wonkiness is the result of software engineers romping through zeros and ones, versus there being something wrong with my Inspire 3, which is why I purchased the Charge 6.

Have you gotten any improvement with your app? Mine doesn’t log my sleep at all often. If I try to enter it manually, it says I can’t enter it because there’s already a sleep log, though nothing is there.

I sent the Charge 6 back and have been using the Inspire 3. My sleep stats have improved and over the past two months I’ve gotten normal graphs. I made sure I wasn’t wearing my Fitbit too tight, and I keep the app running in the background on my iPhone during sleep. I’m not sure what changed, but it’s gone back to behaving and reporting normally.

Hello @BlessingsHappen

I've experienced a similar issue. What you need to do is check the previous day for a partial sleep log. Once you delete that log, you should be able to update/add your sleep log.

Just to let you know, I'm still experiencing the issue where editing the sleep log to correct the sleep or wake time doesn't update the sleep score and sleep stages graphs. I'm waiting for the app update to fix this issue.

I hope so! I’ve had several over a 10 year period and the accuracy, reliability and ease has consistently gotten worse.
I bought an Apple Watch, but didn’t know the charge only lasted 22 hours, so I went strait back to my Fitbit.
I don’t understand how measuring sleep has gotten so unreliable…then when trying to adjust, it won’t let you.
I’ll try your method, but paying this much, I expect it to track my sleep, steps and exercise!
