Fitbit app removing steps

Fitbit app is randomly removing steps

over the last 3 weeks I have lost a significant number of steps.

One day  last week it is showing as 1800 steps total on the app when I know that it was over 5000.

another day it shows all the steps from my walk, and then just an extra 300 steps for the rest of the day.

i have turned it off and on again, uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Turned the Bluetooth off and on, turned the phone off and on.

am this close to switching to Garmin as this is hugely frustrating!

I saw some users report that their historical step data was restored in the Fitbit app. Are you still showing missing steps in the app?

Hi,

yeah, I had changed the GPS to the watch so I changed that back to the phone.

i don’t know if that did it, or if there was a glitch that got fixed, but all the missing steps were restored and it seems to be working ok again now.

Thanks for letting us know that your step historical data re-appeared. 

There was a major outage that affected all of Google last month. I wonder if there were still some issues that weren't fully resolved, like syncing historical data to the Fitbit app, that are finally getting fixed in the background. 🤔
