Did you mean:

Fitbit doesn't seem to track my sleep for the first few hours.

Hello everyone,

I recently got a fitbit 6 and it doesn't seem to recognize I'm asleep until 3-4 hours into sleep. Which in turn completely messes the sleep analysis (because obviously an average of 4 hours of sleep per night isn't healthy).

I have data for the heartrate during tis time so it's not that it doesn't sync or simply doesn't record, it's really the sleep that is not recognized.

I'm using the app on an iPhone 14 with iOS 18.4.1

Does anyone ever had the same problem? Did you manage to solve it?

Hello @DamienG82

I moved your post from the Sleep Well forum to the Charge 6 product help forum where you're more likely to get suggestions from other Charge 6 users.

My apologies if you've already reviewed this information about how Fitbit devices track sleep (<-- click link), which includes recommended troubleshooting steps.

Every now & then, my sleep log in the Fitbit app will not have the correct sleep start time. When this happens, I edit my sleep log in the app. After I make the correction, the app will update my sleep data, including score & sleep stages graph. The help page that I linked above will have the instructions (or link) to editing the sleep log in the app, if you need them.

@DamienG82 it takes an hour for Fitbit to figure out that you're sleeping. I've had an issue where, if I'm restless during the first few hours of sleep, my Fitbit will decide I'm not really sleeping and it won't start recording my sleep until I've stopped moving for a while.

If you tap your user icon in the upper right corner of the Fitbit app and then select "Fitbit settings", there's an area for Sleep. Tap on that and you can select Sleep Sensitivity. Then you can select Normal or Sensitive. I don't know which setting you are using, but you could try the other one and see if that works better for you.

Another suggestion, though not an ideal solution, you can edit your sleep time.  In the sleep section, tap the 3 dots at the top right gives you an edit option; then you can change your sleep beginning time.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
