Got charged for Charge 6 Premium free trial

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I just got the charge 6 and it came with 6 months free membership. When I was setting it up I was prompted to sign up for the premium membership after the free membership with way to exit the screen. I clicked on the yearly. And Fitbit charged me??? I was under the impression that it was for after the free membership was up. Did it happen to anyone else? I’ve disputed it with Apple and will be calling Fitbit first thing Monday. This is unacceptable.

Same here, requested a refund from apple, called Fitbit to start a claim ! Not impressed at all with this, first and possibly last device from Fitbit

Same for me, I have to request refund from Apple.

Same thing happened. I just went on to the Fitbit help live chat and very frustrated - the person could not understand the scenario and just kept saying because I didn’t cancel by the Oct 14 date it automatically renewed.  See my conversation.

I have been dealing with the same issue for the last 2 days. Amazon says I need to talk to Fitbit, Fitbit tells me I need to talk to Amazon, I am now being told I need talk to Apple. Yeah not at all pleased.

Apple just refunded my payment no problem. Fitbit better get their **ahem** together or they will definitely be losing market share with so many other options out there !

Hi everyone, and welcome to our new members.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I understand your concern and I'm sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. Please know your feedback will help us to keep improving our services.

@mussa3 and @Blieker just to confirm did you have a Premium subscription prior to activating the free trial? Did you make sure your Charge 6 was correctly set up during this process? Also, was the Fitbit app updated? Please provide me with this information as it'll help me to further investigate.

@Lf926@Eric2955@indrap@Mjgm123 and @SunsetRunner I noticed you already have a case created and my best advice is to keep an open communication with our team, in order to continue receiving help with this matter.

I was not told a case was opened. I was referred to Amazon, who referred me to Fitbit who referred me back to Amazon who referred me back to Fitbit who then referred to Apple. Do you see the pattern?

My refund request is rejected by Apple ☹️

Me too. I was told to request a refund from Apple and I did so. It was approved the next day.

Activating the complimentary 6 months Premium membership is needlessly complicated and misleading in the app.

Thst is why I never signed up for free premium for a year.  Don’t trust it at all.  Glad I did not sign up. Being charged before the free subscription even starts is unacceptable and misleading. Sorry Google don’t trust you at all.

Best Answer

I did not have premium before.
I started a chat on Fitbit help but I don’t think there was a case open.  My chat person could not understand my scenario and just kept telling me it was as expected behavior.   I gave up.
I received a refund from Apple without any explanation required luckily but I requested it the same day.
I may or may not one day try to figure out how to redeem the 6 months free as I’m slightly interested but not wanting to go through this again.

When setting up the Free 6 months, they ask for a CC. You do not want to click on yearly. If you did, request a refund.

If you like premium, don't have to do anything. If at sometime before the 6 months has ended, you decide premium is not for you, cancel it. You could even cancel it tomorrow. Your subscription will continue until the current free expires.

Alternatively get an app like www.Privacy.com You connect your bank and create virtual CC

  • You can limit the card to one company
  • Set a max dollar limit per transaction
  • Set for one time use.
  • At any time, you can close the card at anytime

I use this for all my trial subscriptions then cancel card.

Give fitbit a virtual card, set it for a dollar, let them create your Premium Account, then close the card. 6 months from now, you will get a notice that your card was declined and you won't have to worry about remembering to cancel

The issue for me and others is that there seems to be no way to sign up for the free premium in the app without entering CC info (I used Apple Pay).  Thinking it would store the information (as you described) but not charge the CC until the free period expired. It does not do that; the CC is charged immediately.

I was finally able to get the trial 6 month membership. After the paid subscription is done, I can enroll in the 6 month plan. I had to migrate my account to Google and that changed everything.  Not a good process.

Same problem with me.

I bought the Fitbit charge 6 vie Amazon.com .be and I sign up for the premium free member ship during a period of  6 month and Apple charged me !

Yesterday I chat with Someone of Fitbit; but I'm still waiting an Email to resolve the problem-, but no mail, no answer via chat, so it's not honest!

me too, so what is the solution ?

Yes same thing happened to me.

it stated this device got 6 months of premium for free and then I followed the prompts, asked for the Credit Card, and charged me almost immediately the $10

I guess I’ll monitor this and see if anyone has a fix from Fitbit.

At the very least can someone from Fitbit confirm/deny all new Charge 6 devices should get 6 months of premium…..because if yes then it should be pretty obvious that little to no one should be paying for premium since the product is still in it’s first month….
