My first 24 hours with charge 6

So I had a charge 5 replacement many times so because of that great customer Service over the years I have move to the charge 6 with very little advantage over the charge 5 for me but great customer service does pay off long term. The app found the new tracker and ask if I want to replace old device I did accept but for what ever reason the app Bluetooth kept asking to connect charge 6? I fix this issue by deleting the charge 6 in app settings than restarted phone then in the Fitbit app settings I Add Device manually this time there was no issue. Still early days but so far no other issues. Swim this morning worked perfectly the always on screen/clock worked great. Old charge 5 screen wasn’t great in the pool so to have this charge 6 screen respond perfectly is a surprise because it’s the same as charge 5 is my understanding. I do like having the back button on the side which does help a lot. I swap screen/clock with no issues.

Please tell me if I'm misinterpreting your question: you want to know why you can't have both connected to the Charge 6, correct?

If that's the case, it's because "Multi-Tracker Support" is no longer available.  You can't have devices running the same OS (such as the Charge 5 and 6) connected to the same account.
