Not auto-detecting bike rides

Why does my Charge 6 not auto-detect my bike rides? It used to do that with my old bike. This new bike, zero steps and no exercise detected. Manually, I also get zero steps. I am putting the Fitbit on my foot for the time being.

Answering part of your question: Bike riding is not a step-based activity.  When you do, or did, get steps from bike riding, it is only from vibrations transmitted up to your wrist, depending partly on road surface.  Putting fitbit on foot will of course give you steps, but number of steps wouldn't necessarily correspond to anything, like distance or effort. For example, what gear you are determines how many cycles per distance.  Also with fitbit on foot, you probably lose heart rate which determines calorie burn and zone minutes.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
