Refund from Google store is impossible?

I’ve had a Fitbit since the original version over a decade ago. I’ve upgraded when new ones came out, bought a replacement when one died, been a super loyal customer who promoted the product with anyone willing to listen.

And in June my Charge 5 just stopped working. Red X on screen.  Won’t reset. Won’t restart.  Nothing works.  They give me a coupon code for 30% off so I buy a Charge 6.

I don’t think the strap stayed attached to it for 24 consecutive hours. I would be walking and it just dropped off me. I was sitting on the couch and it fell off me. I tried the band from my old Charge 5. Same thing. Tried a band from Amazon. Same thing. Finally I asked for assistance and they SENT ME ANOTHER STRAP when it was obvious the issue was the Charge unit and not a series of bands all failing at the same time.

I contacted Google store and told them I wanted a refund as it was in the return period and I decided to cut my losses and find a different product. After a decade.

They sent me a shipping label, the package was received 2 weeks ago and support told me a week ago I would have a refund the same day I was speaking with them.  Nothing was refunded. Every time I talk to support it’s running in circles and providing the same information I did the last 10 times.

Has anyone had luck getting a refund from Google Store?  Or should I consider this a loss and post on all social media about this pitiful experience and tell them to stay away from  anything Google store (including Fitbit)?   Because that’s where I am now.

Hello @KimInNB and welcome to the Community.  I'm flagging your post to get a moderator to help you.  As a consumer, can you dispute the original credit card charge with your bank?

I also moved your post to the Charge 6 forum, a better fit for your issue.

I’m going to talk to my bank but I think it’s been over a month so too long.

After Hounding Google store twice a week, having the chat emailed to me so k could shove screenshots down their throat, and not giving up I am happy to announce that I received my refund on my card today. I must have spent 20 hours trying to deal with this but the little guy won.
I will NEVER EVER EVER buy anything Google again.  So congratulations on that!   And now I go to social media to let everyone know to steer clear of the Google store completely and perhaps even Google products if the return is through the Google store.

what a horrible experience.  Fitbit is sadly off my list now and I got a cheap $50 watch off Amazon that does more than the $200 Charge 6.
have a good day!!!
