Steps correct but distance doubled

I have disconnected my Pixel 7 phone, uninstalled google fit from my phone, entered the correct stride length, went through restart and factory reset.  I fiollowed every procedure I could find on the internet. The charge 6 counts my steps perfectly, but displays double the distance.  I spoke with google and they are escalating the matter for me.

In the interim, I am shortening my stride length in an attempt to get the correct distance.  Any thoughts on this?

@Tracker6 Do you enable GPS when walking/jogging?  Supposedly more accurate tracking with GPS on.

Just to close this out - yes I have followed all the rules.  However, I made the mistake of of miscalculating the distance I was walking.  I used the wrong information about my track.  Once I corrected this error (my error) I see that the Charge 6 is measuring distance perfectly.  Sorry for the trouble.
