Edit distance for all activities with the Android, Win app and the web

Now that the iOS users are able to edit distance of a recorded exercise, may we on Android, Windows phones, and through the Web Portal, please also have this ability?

This would be very helpful for stationary activity as in spinning, elyptical, treadmill, etc.

Thank you for considering making the experience consistent for all users.

Can we please have the option to modify the distance of the workout (especially treadmill workout) in the Fitbit app on Android?

I've seen similar threads with replies from the moderators to change the stride length, but that's a bad idea as you might run and walk during the same treadmill exercise, so it will be incorrect anyway.

Also I saw this feature suggestion, that was closed by the moderator because it was implemented for iOS, although half of the people who commented asked for the Android version.

It would also be good to be able to add the distance when rowing too. The field is there but I cannot edit it. Note that I do not want to create a log a new activity as that does not keep the HR information.

Hi @filip_lux! Great suggestion, thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

Hi,

I just can't stand the fact that i can't edit anything.

Wouldn't it be easy to add a feature that allows me to edit different things instead of deleting and adding a corrected version of a session?

If i start a treadmill session on the watch, the distance is always way off, if i simply could edit the session instead of having to note down start and stop, then add the correct distance in a manually added session and then delete the first one i would be a happy man.

Also, adding correct distances on the treadmill would give more precise data and that could be used to correct stride length?

Syncing fitbit or phone-app with different treadmills should also be a feature cause then the issues above wouldn't be a issue at all..

FITBIT seriously get your website and app together for ANDROID users! I don't know if y'all have a deal with apple since they obviously can edit their distance, us android users should be able to do that as well. This issue dates back a few years ever since you changed your systems and YOU WILL LOOSE CUSTOMERS by this fact. Just add the feature since you were able to on Apple phones.

@sarah68mu2  editing Fitbit data on iOS had nothing to do with Apple.

It probably has to do with the Fitbit iOS programmers adding this feature to the iOS Fitbit app and the Android programmers not thinking about adding this feature.

This is absurd.  There should be NO DISPARITY between the Android and iOS version of the apps outside of a few minor visual flourishes.  This is app design 101.  I DONT WANT AN IPHONE.  I'm lucky that I have an iPad where I can edit my exercise.  If I had an iPhone, I'd have an Apple Watch.  Be truthful, that is the REAL reason you have this feature on iOS: to help keep Apple customers from jumping ship to the Apple Watch.  Since Android doesn't have any decent watches at this time, you couldn't give a rat's **ahem** about those users, right?  To add further insult, you close each thread about this request every time it comes up over the course of more than five years despite THOUSANDS of votes for it.  If it's really that difficult for your devs, maybe suggest completely tossing the Android app in the trash heap and merely port the iOS version over?  There are tools for that!!!  There is no technical reason for this disparity.  It has to be a business or management decision.  If you want your stock to get out of the toilet I'd suggest actually LISTENING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!    Android users are NOT second class citizens so please stop treating us as such!  If the ability to edit exercises doesn't appear this year, count me as another lost customer.

I completely agree with this. I've only had my ionic a day but this is a massive disappointment. I really don't think adding it manually is a legitimate compromise, if I wanted to log all my exercise

Sorry, I clicked post before I was finished!

If I wanted to log all my activity I'd use Excel. The whole point is to use the watch to track the data such as HR etc in sync with the activities and I really want to be able to track my total running distance over the month/year.

If this doesn't get sorted I will definitely not continue to use Fitbit.

Well... went with Garmin Forerunner 245 - it has the ability to edit distance (or any other field) plus the option to view HR data on Android in Landscape mode Smiley Surprised I know... scandalous!!!

I think that's an important suggestion. Not being able to modify my distance leads to many inaccuracies. I would love it for us, Android users, to have this option.

I just want to modify the exercise details. I do a lot of walking and take different routes, so just "walk" doesn't let me note where I went that day. The ONE allowed that. It seems it's a reasonable feature to carry over to the Versa.

It would be great to be able to edit workouts after the fact, and possibly it would help the device with stride/step accuracy too. The last week or so for no apparent reason the accuracy of my Versa that I've been running with for awhile went straight out the window. Last week it said my 8 mile group run was only 6 (no wonder I thought I was doing amazing with my pace and the distance!) and yesterday it said my 5 mile run was 6. It would be great to go back in and fix the errors so my app reflects accurate data.

Hi @Claudia13, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has a lot of votes. As the more votes and comments an idea has the more visibility and momentum it gains. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs.

I was on the eliptical this morning, and the machine recorded that I walked 3.27 miles, but FitBit only recorded about 2 miles of that. I didn't see where this option was available, but being able to edit the miles (which would then update steps) would be a great feature. I can understand how steps might not register eliptical steps so well since the handgrips would buffer the impact of steps taken and then therefore might not register the steps correctly.

I vote to have EDIT capability for the treadmill DISTANCE on the IOS APP .  It seems very silly that only ‘time’ can be adjusted when TIME is almost always correct..  .04 miles in 20 minutes @ 3.3 miles per hour is absurd.    Otherwise I love my FITBIT Versa and the APPS, just use common sense in the software development.

Update from my earlier post- After weeks of mediocre customer support and steps to take, I finally got Fitbit to send me a replacement Versa which I've been running with for a couple weeks. Unfortunately, it's accuracy is no better even though I doubled checked my height was correct and have already done one factory reset after a firmware update. I've had Fitbits for 3 years and really love all the features, but this months long problem with accuracy ( and I know many other users with the same problem starting around August) and no good solution has me shopping for a good deal on a Garmin. I was hopeful that the Google acquisition might help as I have a Pixel phone, but at this point I don't think I can wait for that. When I'm running now, it's basically a heart rate monitoring watch. 😣😣😣

@Claudia13 have you checked and set your stride? Most people are not average, which is what Fitbit uses to calculate the stride

first post says that iOS users can edit distance but I don’t seem to be able to do this in treadmill runs? Am I doing something wrong?  Thanks

Yes please! We need this in versa2...

The Fitbit app should provide the ability to edit all details of a logged exercise. Especially for exercises that aren’t tracked via GPS. For example, when running on a treadmill, the distance reported by the treadmill and the distance logged by my Fitbit device are significantly different. I should be able to modify the distance according to the treadmill and have my Fitbit automatically adjust the pace to match the duration and distance. This is a very simple mathematical calculation. Additionally, if I have forgotten to stop my workout, once I adjust the time and distance in the edit function, it should automatically adjust the other figures.

Hi @SunsetRunner, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about being able to edit distance traveled. This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here to keep this board organized.

I support adding more edit functions to recorded exercise activity for Android/Windows users.  I forgot to end a weight lifting session and it now indicates I was lifting for about 30 minutes more than I actually did.  Would be nice if I could edit the time this exercise stopped, without having to delete all the heart rate and calorie data that actually did correspond to the real session.  I believe the only option now is to delete the whole activity and add a manual session, but that would only have an estimate of calories and no HR data.  Thanks!
