This really will not work because Fitbit gradually rolls out firmware updates. Until the update has been released to the user, the update request will not show an update.

@Rich_LaueThats fine, they have nothing that needs updating or can be updated for the firmware.

Incidentally they might want to review this procedure to do a gradual roll out because it means people with the same watch type can be on different versions, which is very confusing for everyone, knowing who is and isn't and what issues people have depending on whether they are on the current or latest versions.

Already its confusing publishing the latest versions of firmware because if people check manually in the list and don't have it they can't get it. Causes nothing by mayhem.

The release the way they do so that they can monitor the update and see if any unsuspecting problems arise. It also keeps from overloading the servers.

@Rich_Laue

That practice of using the general public to do Fitbit testing should be reviewed.

It is a horrendously archaic bad practice as can be seen by the recent 3.37 fiasco, and current Versa problems now plaguing poor users.

A proper testing policy needs establishing prior to general release on 25 million unsuspecting users.

Please update my Fitbit software automatically or at they very least, alert me in some way to an update.

Hi @Jcisijwhh - this depends on the phone and how it is setup, as the update comes from the store, though it could tell you there is an update, like for firmware.

Before updating you need to consider 2

things.

  • If the app is working then there is no need to update
  • If you are going to update check there are no problems with the update and what changes there will be.
