Battery tanked...Starbucks?

So, this morning my battery went from 85% to 0% in about 4 hrs.  Only thing I can figure is that last time I used it the Starbucks app was open.  Would that kill the battery if I didn't swipe back to the time?

I suppose it is possible if you kept the Starbucks app open the whole time since the app apparently keeps the screen lit which burns up battery power.

Same thing happened to me. The app should have a 5 min timeout.
