Hi, 

Does anyone know if the new charge 4 can play music off Spotify, without being connected or in close proximity to your phone?

If so, can you connect wireless headphone such as AirPods to it as well? 

Or can this only be done with the versa?

The Spotify app on the Charge 4 can only control music playing through Spotify on your phone. It does not let you load music to the fitbit so you need to have your phone nearby. See: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1976/
