Ionic watch face is blank when not lit up - is there a way to configure the clock to be 'always on'?

I am seeing that the watch face turns off completely when it's idle. This is great, but I like at least the clock to be there. I have to move my wrist to trigger movement to get it to turn back on. This is highly annoying and I can't believe I'm the only person who is affected by this...

The Surge has similar behavior, except the the clock was always on (back-lit in gray, like the Amazon Kindle). Is there a way to do this on the Ionic?

Thanks

Bob

I know what you're saying.  I have both the Ionic and the Surge.  With the Surge it's nice to have the clock always running in the background.  Hopefully, they will make this an option for the Ionic in a future update.

@Sharon40, I don't know if you have gotten the answers to your question, but you may want to review the Ionic Users Manual for more information on the Ionic.

This may be the most retarded thing I have ever read... We should pay 300$ for this watch and then have to “practice” using it. Too bad we can’t practice during the 9 hours it takes to transfer music.

dont post stupid **ahem**, surely you and your company hold yourselves to a higher standard.

Tomtom my sports (2 years older and far superior) has this function and I can go over a week without a charge with a couple workouts sprinkled in. The more I workout, the more it needs charged

Will there be an update to allow the just the time to display?  Unfortunately the wrist turning is more than just a wrist turn and a pain just to see what time it is.

thanks, David

As the person who started this thread, I am highly dissapointed with this. I feel like it’s gotten worse. Now I flick my wrist several times during runs and nothing happens at all.

please submit a request for the clock to be always on.

thanks

Bob

You are incorrect. The appeal of an OLED screen is that only the pixels that are displaying information are lit up. That's why most new phones are able to show notifications and such, typically only in black and white, while not negatively affecting battery life. By comparison, an LCD utilizes a back-light, which must be turned on to display anything, even if the information only is displayed in a small area. This comes at a high cost of battery life.

An OLED screen is far more efficient, and why you will see most new smartwatches utilizing them. Those watches are able to display a time continuously, without too much wasted battery.
