ANSWERED

What does it mean to be a Jogger, Hill Runner, or 5K Racer anyway?
Your rank is an indication of your involvement in the Fitbit Community. If you continually visit the forums, your rank will change to reflect the time you've spent here. By posting and contributing to discussions, you may progress even further through the rank structure and unlock additional account priveleges.

Your Rank title is displayed beneath your profile picture and Community name.

What determines my rank?

Post count is not the only factor that is included in the rank formula--that would be too simple! In addition to creating content for the Community, you get points when your answers are voted up or accepted as solutions. Voting for other helpful posts and being the first to respond to other member's questions can bring you even closer to achieving your next rank.

How can I rank up?

The easiest way to rank up is to visit often and add value where you can. The rank structure was developed to compliment the wide variety of ways you can engage with your fellow Fitbitters. As a community member, you can vote for the posts you find helpful, post new questions and then identify and approve the solution that helped you most (these are called Accepted Solutions). You can also comment on feature suggestions and start new discussions around topics of interest. It's a combination of these activities that will help you to achieve the next rank.

Hint: Scroll to the bottom of any community board and click through to posts in the Unanswered Topics section to help new members, rack up more points, and earn yourself a place on the Most Helpful Authors leaderboard!

I skipped a rank, is this normal?
Ranking formulas are calculated using Boolean logic. Your journey through the rank system might not be as straightforward as Jogger > Recovery Runner > Base Runner. You could actually skip from Jogger all the way to Strider if the conditions were right. For example, if you started off taking your First Steps and then posted 10 times, but didn’t receive any votes on those 10 posts until 100 days later, by which time you had posted 20 more times and received 5 Accepted Solutions, you might jump ahead to becoming a Strider even though you’d have skipped a good 3 ranks in the process.

I don't identify as a runner at all, can I opt out or customize my rank title?

Community ranks are designed as a lighthearted way to encourage engagement and offer other members a little extra insight into your participation here. They are not linked to any individual preference or setting, and it's not possible to opt-out.

Community ranks and reputation

While ranks can give you a general understanding of how much expertise another member has and how engaged they are in the community, the best way to get to know fellow community members is by striking up a conversation with them! You can also learn more about the other members here by visiting their profile page (to view another member's profile page, click on their community username).

Fitbit for sure has been a great help to being healthier.  I appreciate a tool to track all the valuable info.  The fitbit istelf though has been smewhat of a dissappointment.  I purchased a Charge HR, and have owned it for about 1 month.  I have had to reset it twice already.  I did by the extended 1 year warranty, I would recommed that for all.

45marathonsaaa - I think "Recovery Runner" is merely a designation based on the number of times you've been active within the Forums. While good in itself, I don't think it reflects your efforts to overcome the major obstacles that have been thrown your way.

I find it a bit ironic you say Fitbit has made such a positive impact on you to this point . . . then you say you want to again race for Nike. I'm just saying. Frankly, I liked the Nike system for training and all. But like yourself, I've changed what I use due to it better fitting what I want to achieve. In any case, I wish you continued success on you journey. Pushing yourself is what we do. Just try not to overdo it as I'm sure you know that can lead to injuries and long-term setbacks nobody wants.

I think what's great is you can pick friends on your Fitbit and have fun competitions. I tend to walk or run further when I have a weekend competition or a 5 day week which helps me lose weight but better yet it helps get me in shape.

You're right, I have to wear a different shoe than before and my runs are way slower than before simply because of some poallisis. I  still have to watch my balance.  It's better than sitting home however doing nothing but reading watching TV and watch my life slip away.

I am none of the list you listed. What I do is quite often and sometimes 5 times a week is ride my recumbent bike. My Fit Bit does record my time that I am cycling, any  where from 10, 20,and 30 miles that I do .
I have done several 40 and 1 time I record a all day ride of 70 miles. Now that it is nice I am doing more walking. I all so am doing trim mowing and it does record all the stopping and going.   When I use the riding mower it records the time and calories.

You can go to setups and there's also a place were you can go called friends. There will list friends you on Facebook with and so forth and it tells you if they have Fitfit and an active user, you can send a message to do a weekend competition or work week competition to see who will walk the most steps and so on.try it, it's fun and you'll see you'll get more exercise at the same time of learning more about your friends. I found my niece is active and we're having a great time with about 12 other Fitbiters.😎

Thanks for this informative info.  I've always wondered why some people have "recovery runner" or "5k or 10", etc.  Haha!  I thought that's what they do in real life. 😉

Believed that to @jentra that it somehow got to do with real life progress (fitness/activity..).. Smiley Wink

pattipromqueen - Where the icon is next to your name, try to click on it. With a mobile device it may be a long press or some similar. At least that should point you the right general direction. Once done correctly, it should give you a list of options, including change your profile photo. If you already have it on your device, simply choose that when prompted. Of course, it has to be in acceptable formats to work. Note that you can also download additional photos which can be viewed by others. Like everything else, you usually have preferences on how you'd like them accessed, if at all: by everyone, just friends, etc. Hope this helps. If you need more specifically where to head, let me know and I'll try to send you screen shots. But I think that probably won't be necessary. If I did that, they may be different due to my accessing Dashboard and most other Fitbit things with my desktop PC running on Windows 7.
