Black Friday Scam

Fitbit engaged in a false advertising practice this holiday season that is so egregious it boggles the mind.

As part of their Black Friday deal, they offered a year of FitBit Premium for $75 with every new device. (It’s usually $10 per month.) As with any online purchase, they asked for my email address.

Most people purchase things on Black Friday as gifts, yes?

They connected the Premium subscription to MY email address, beginning on the date of purchase, with no way to transfer it. (And you guessed it - no refunds.) If I had purchased ten of these things as gifts, I would have ten years of Premium subscription even though I don’t even own a Fitbit.

And when the recipient activated the device, they gave him a six-month trial of premium anyway.

What a scam and ripoff. $75 down the drain.
