Can I use Premium features after cancelling renewal?

Potentially dumb question from a newbie so apologies in advance.....

So I just got a Versa 3 and did all the set-up stuff today on the app on my IOS device.

I then got a Premium 6 month free trial offer and accepted through the Apple Store.

I want to cancel the renewal of this subscription so that I am not billed in 6 months but when I went to Account Settings --> Manage Subscriptions, it took me back to the Apple Store and in Edit Subscription it gives me the option to Cancel Free Trial.

Now I just want to turn off the auto-renewal of this subscription, I still want to use the Premium features for the next 6 months until it expires.

If I select that Cancel Free Trial option on the App Store, will it just cancel the auto-renewal or will it cancel my access to the free trial entirely?

Thanks 🙂

Hi, @libru97 , not a dumb question at all!

The answer is, in common with other free trial introductory offers, Fitbit does not allow you to cancel in advance.  For the same reason they will not allow you to set up a free trial without entering a credit card in case you decide to continue.  Once you have signed up, obviously they hope you will value it so much that you won’t want to cancel after having the benefit for six months.  So, as with other free trial offers, you will have to set up a reminder to yourself to consider whether you want to continue or to cancel.

The short answer to your question is no, you cannot cancel in advance.

So yes, currently you can only cancel the free trial.  Once the free trial expires, you will need to decide whether or not to continue.  If you do not wish to continue, you will need to cancel the free trial before the renewal date or you will be charged.  (Of course, as you have noted, you can cancel the free trial sooner than six months - or anytime you like- if you are sure that you don’t want to continue the service and be charged.

I hope this helps.  Welcome to the forums!

I hope this makes it all clear.

@Julia_G "Fitbit does not allow you to cancel in advance" - this quite isn't true, at least on Android. You can cancel the renewal anytime. When you start a free trial, the subscription appears in the Play Store with a date when the payment will be taken (after the trial). It's possible to cancel renewal right after the trial started. The trial will continue until the day of renewal and with the automatic charge being cancelled, the Premium will stop as well.
