Fitbit has a 1 year warranty. After the warranty period has expired, no repairs can be made. And the lifespan of fitbit is a little over a year.
If you have purchased a fitbit for more than six months, do not subscribe to the fitbit premium annual plan. You will be forced to choose between forgoing the rest of fitbit premium or wasting it on a fragile device.
Both of my two devices broke in a little over a year. I contacted about a fitbit premium that I subscribed to a month and a half before it broke but both fitbit support and google store support request to contact the other.

Hi @kgtkr the only way to protect yourself in the case of a device no longer working would be to purchase an extended warranty, which would replace the Fitbit, if the original factory warranty had expired.
