How to sync specific Coach workouts to Ionic?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

hi

Posting on this forum as well as Ionic.

I have a Fitbit ionic and a premium coach account. I use my ionic for running and I want to sync some of the running workouts on Fitbit coach onto my Ionic. I don't want to take my phone running ( this was the point of having the ionic) ... but my Ionic just seems to have a random selection of workouts none of which relate to running but are static workouts. How can I get specific workouts onto the device?

Thanks

Hello @nevynevster I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

Upgrade to a premium subscription for even more workouts on your watch. For more information about Premium subscriptions, see How do I purchase, manage, or cancel my Fitbit Coach Premium subscription? If you have a Premium Fitbit Coach account linked to your Fitbit account, you have 1 personalized workout and 4-6 recommended workouts on your watch.

In order to receive personalized workouts, you must first complete the Fit Test and choose a program from the Fitbit Coach app or website. Note that personalized and recommended workouts update periodically when you sync your watch with the Fitbit app. You must complete the personalized workout in order to receive a new one. For more information about how Fitbit chooses recommended workouts for you, see How do I use the Guidance option in the Fitbit app?.

At this moment, it's not possible to sync specific or handpicked exercises, as mentioned earlier, Fitbit chooses recommended workouts for you.

I hope this resolves your inquiry, if there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I have a premium account already and a personalised programme (by the way if you change programme it doesn't resync and update).

But I want coaching for running outdoors. There's no programme for that only workouts that I can find. It seems crazy to offer an outdoor workout option but not allow it onto the device! Surely it is the most useful for the Ionic to have the outdoor workouts syncd? If I am indoors I jave access to phone and computer etc.

This seems a very disappointing limitation of functionality

I understand your concern about not having the chance to sync your preferred exercises to the Coach app in Ionic. At this moment, our team doesn't have plans to release this feature. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs. For now, our team will leave this suggestion open for votes (and closed to comments) so that we can continue to track community demand over time.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us and we will let you know if anything changes. If there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Hi thanks for that. Can you tell me how the algorithm works for the set of workouts that is generated on Ionic watch? That way I can try to do whatever I need to "get it to suggest" the ones I want ?

What is it based on ? Past history? Likes etc?

Hi

I do understand that you have no plans to introduce the feature I was talking about. I am not asking that.

At the moment there is a sync of workouts to the Ionic. I am asking, as a premium user, how are the workouts decided? There must be an algorithm that is determining which ones I see. I know, for example, it has at least the one that is on my current plan (e.g. if I am on the plan GET MOVING, it shows up a GET MOVING workout). However there are many other workouts showing on my Ionic beyond the plan workout. So what is the logic that determines that - if I could understand how it decides that then I may be able to try to find some way of getting my desired workout on there. For example, maybe I just need to run a few times with the phone doing that workout and then it would come up as a frequent workout suggestion or something like that? Thanks

Great to see you back @nevynevster.

Regarding your inquiry, we understand what you are asking for, but we cannot provide that information at this time. Algorithms are proprietary information that we can't share out to the public. I will take your feedback very seriously and will make sure to escalate to Coach developers.

In the meantime, let me know if you need anything else. 😉

Can I respectfully suggest that this is an area that you should not have proprietary algorithms. If I pay for premium coach I should be able to choose what i see syncd to the device. Simple as that. Why do you Fitbit get to decide and not me? I paid my subscription and I want the right to choose!
