Fitbit Update 6/14/19: We have removed the web-based activity groups from Fitbit.com. Our enhanced community features within the Fitbit mobile app provide users with a significantly better experience by allowing them to access fitness-related news and local events, connect and message with friends, discover public groups of like-minded individuals, and create their own private groups.

User-created groups on the Fitbit app also allow members to track their progress through group leaderboards and cheer each other on, just as they could through the web. The Fitbit mobile app is available for Android and iOS.

As of 6/13/2019, Web Activity Groups have been deprecated and will no longer be accessible.

We know that many of you have used this space to connect with friends and fellow Fitbit users, and we recommend considering the in-app Fitbit Community to continue those conversations. Along with topical public threads where you can discuss personal health goals, the Community also offers closed groups with many advantages - including space for up to 2,000 members, and leaderboard statistics.

For more information on joining and inviting your friends to these closed groups, check out this article. We know that this kind of transition can be difficult, but we are confident that you'll find lots to love in the new Fitbit Community!

Bosco 253 and Checking-I called the customer service Dept. this morning. The person I talked to then talked to their community Dept. that handles the web community groups. Basically they relayed the same message that Matt has and that is the community groups can be obtained on mobile apps.,etc. I was unable to talk to anybody in that community dept. and customer service said that the community dept. would send me an email as to how to get on the community group mobile ap which is useless to me since I don't have one.

Didn't know Garmin had groups, that's awesome.

Bring the community groups back!!  Why take them away??  Guess I won't have to get a fitbit again when my current one quits, if the groups are gone for good.  Ridiculous.

Get it together... SOOO many people used this for work.. because we all work from home and like to keep moving.. we complete and get prizes.. YOU RUINED THIS

@Drainman For a long time I have been a dual user, Garmin for athletic activities and training, Fitbit for 24/7 general tracking - mostly for the activity groups, as well as the smaller size.. The Garmin (Fenix 3 HR, titanium and sapphire SE), works fine (better than Fitbit) as a 24/7 tracker, but hard to justify an $800 (list, I got it for less) exercise computer for 24/7- UNLESS you already own one. So, without the activity groups, the Fitbit goes in the junk drawer, and Garmin takes care of everything. I'm still keeping my Fitbit account open, at this point mostly for entertainment, but I do still hold a faint hope there will be a miracle.

I did call fitbit support and let them know that I was displeased with taking this away. I was nicely told that the interest centric groups on the App are the new way to do this. I did not get much info as to why they felt the need to flush what was working for a lot of like minded people.

So for the minds at Fitbit: I am not sure what research or reason you had to deep six the Activity Groups. I certainly was not aware of it coming despite statements that "we told" you it was going to happen. What you replaced it with may be a great new idea, but you made me lose my connections to friends that I made and I am not happy. I have been a supporter of Fitbit and your tracking devices since you started, but that is gone until you restore this feature. If not restored, when my device dies, I'll go with a smarter watch. Since I doubt you will do the right thing and restore the service and my groups, it was a good run. (Pun intended) Good luck.

I think that they were saying... we decided to take this feature out, but were too lazy to test it before rolling it out.

(I was responding to a post about unceremoniously dumping a person that was checking their groups into "Looks like you wandered off the path" or something like that. That just started me getting annoyed.)

@tjhsmom  you can still see your friends on the Dashboard friends tile, you just have click on the tile. Another mildly inconvenient cost/resource saving measure by Fitbit - they don't have to calculate that leaderboard (much more difficult that the other, single-user data on the dashboard), unless you specifically ask for it by clicking on the tile.

The activity group that I belonged to does not appear in my friend list.

This is a really poor decision that effects many people.  My small company has used these groups for friendly competition and many of our employees have purchased fitbits just for the opportunity to share their goals, progress and motivation.  I'm not happy and my company is upset that we promoted this idea.

Thank you.  I was aware that I can click on it but I liked it better when I could just take a glance on a break and see that "Joe" is sneaking up on me - I better go take a lap around the park at lunch.

Yes, the friends list appears, but not the groups with leaderbaords.

It's beyond frustrating to find these groups simply gone with no warning I could see.  I cannot understand why Fitbit chose not to migrate existing private groups to the App, or to warn group administrators ahead of time before deleting the groups and revoking our ability to see the leaderboard data and/or communicate with our groups within the site.

Why should we start new groups on the app when they may also be deleted en masse without warning?

Well now, I tried to post on TwitBook to the FitBit page.. but it's not working now.. I forget the exact error, but I think they turned it off so we can't post?
I tried two different browsers on one PC, and another on a separate pc on another network... same error message, multiple times, in all 3 browsers.

Now, I wonder why that would happen?   :-X

That was my experience as well. Very poor PR

@jjwillamson I think I got things moving on the Facebook Fitbit Page here

So far, there has only been one Fitbit response - pretty much a cut and paste of the one we got here. However, others are starting to show up and express their angry thoughts.

@checking- yea, caught that I could comment in there, just not create new ones.. I'm on that thread

We also used the group for our company to earn incentives that included cash and time off.  I am very disappointed that this was removed and we were not notified.  Seems like there are a lot of organizations that use this and would be beneficial to continue it.

@jjwillamson , just saw you there with a reply comment. It looks things for original posts has changed from what I remember. If the text box is there at the top of the page (it still is for me), and you can enter text, then you need to click on the 3 dots at the bottom to specify posting parameters and actually post (I don't remember that before)
