Activity recorded as elliptical instead of walk

I have a charge 2 when I use the app to track an exercise instead of Auto recognizing it sometimes gets logged as elliptical despite the fact that when I initiated the tracking I selected walk. I saw someone suggested that it is because of arm movement but I'm not using the auto track I'm logging it myself. Any suggestions?

I take it you are using GPS to track it? I would look in the app and make sure Elliptical is not the first thing listed. Its right below where you start the GPS

Yes I am using GPS to record my activity but when I initiate the tracking
walk is the activity that is selected not elliptical. But when the activity
completes it gets logged as elliptical.

The Charge 2 has connected GPS and it sounds like you are not connecting it. So it is using smart Track to track it and it will pick up the first thing on your exercise shortcuts.

The manual is here and on page 17 it tells you how to use connected GPS

No this is definitely not the case. The GPS is connected. When I'm done
with my walks it shows the map of the route I walked and the miles I
completed.

Not that serious just thought I'd check the forums to see if anyone had a solution. I just turned off the auto tracking for elliptical.

My HR has consistently showed I'm using the elliptical when I'm really walking. I checked, elliptical is next to the last option I have for recognized activity. I believe it is the way I'm moving my arms when I walk, very much like an elliptical. I did remove elliptical from my options for recognized activity and all that did was no longer register I was doing an activity.

I used to go in and edit it back to walk, now I just leave it. I know I'm moving and it is showing there is activity there.

I'm having this same problem - have you found a fix yet? Distance and route recorded just fine, but still calls part of the walk "eliptical" at least 3-4 times a week. Should be smart enough to know you can't move 1.2 miles while on an eliptical.

Hey @Torimai.

I'd like to take a closer look into the situation as it sounds quite bothersome. I'd like to ask some questions to better understand:

  • Are you using GPS to track the walk?
  • What tracker are you using?
  • If you're using GPS, do you get the entire map?

In the meantime, I'd recommend that you try to turn off the Elliptical option like @ErinRDiamond did. You can do so on your tracker's settings on the Dashboard.

Look forward to your reply.
